Week One, June 7 (Thursday)

Please shoot me an email with your updates above tasks below or go ahead and fill out the "Update/Comment" section beneath your name. Thanks, Adam, for the email update Friday. Very helpful. It occurs to me that's a good system for the duration. So Jennifer, Kelly, and Sunchai: update me as soon as you can on below.

Let's go with this rhythm for the duration of the summer--

Deadline for Tasks assigned MONDAY: Wednesday before noon

Deadline for Tasks assigned THURSDAY: at least two hours before our Thursday meeting

NEXT WEEK: Take a look at Adam's email (below his task assignment) for update on where he is with this remix. Next week, please continue working with Adam to help him reconstruct that video by showing him where he can find the high quality images he needs and relevant video, complete captions for sections on Belford Page and John Carlos.

Please complete the tasks assigned if you haven't already done so (in red).

Forward Digital Frontiers (again)

Blog, post 1 - I have a rough outline written. I will confer with Kelly on Monday during lunch about the first post and I think we can each write one post per week per meeting, (for example, maybe I can write on Monday and Kelly can write on Thursday? thoughts?)

Move images on Mac to admin login -  These were located on the desk top of the Mac in the Clic Office. We put them all in one file on the desktop.

NEXT WEEK: Please work with Kelly and call upon rest of team to help complete and post our first blog item for the new RRT blog. I think I may have overloaded you guys requesting the first blog post within a day or two when you are just getting started with your blogs for class and everything else.

Since you have vacation the following week (yes?) you should probably plan to take lead on posting Blog 1 and pass along to Kelly a solid contribution to Blog 2 (for week you are gone). Please also plan on additional hours this week to help us process the Moore papers. I'd like you to take lead on coordinating coverage and scanning for this by spending several hours this week in the collection. Do you think you'll want to give half of your 19 for the week you'll be gone to this week and the other half the week after you come back? or some other configuration? However you want to go about that should work for us and the project. Since you know the archives so well, though, it seems like a good idea for you to take lead on this and know what's there so you can help us grab what might be most useful.

On Rebuild: I was afraid this might happen, Adam, given the way the system kept acting when we (Adam, Christina, and I) met to transfer over project files and rest. Thanks for your willingness to rebuild. Not great news but, as you note, not the catastrophic either. It sounds like feels comfortable with rebuild, especially given the project has already been laid out and timings set. Thanks for being so generous with this! Please go ahead and spend this week on the rebuild.  We'll have a few additional changes

On New Audio: Your email also suggests given need to rebuild and for new audio, we should probably wait to do much with the music until we have that new audio available. I think that's a good point, especially given what we have learned about above.

For NEXT Week: Please keep working on rebuilding the video. Before we meet, please prepare a copy of the version you edited so we can make any additional suggestions you might want to address while we are at it. NOTE: it is vital that those time stamps remain the same. Prasna has already programmed to be set to this pace.

Update/Comment from Adam:

From Adam's email Friday, 4:30:

What may end up happening is that we may need to totally reconstruct the first video.  Basically just reimport all of the videos/images, but we can keep the same structure.  The video that Christina had worked on is not compatible with our computer.  In order for the quality to increase, we will have to redo the images.  Also, I looked at some music ideas, but in order to make a choice, it would probably be best to wait for the audio to be redone. This seems like it will be only a minor step back as all of the revisions and structure is in place. I will just need to build it back together.  Sorry for any bad news.

Best,

Kelly

FOR NEXT WEEK:

Go ahead and contact those folks if you haven't already. The main item for this week is to start us rolling on those annotations for the first video. Let's start cranking drafts of those out. Also, the first blog post. Let's get that done this week (see my note to Jennifer above). For both of these significantly complex items, perhaps it makes sense for us to sit down together and brainstorm a little. Let's talk about when might be good time for this. I do think it'll make sense for me to come out Wednesday so that may be a good time to brainstorm/plan the public interface a bit more. yes?

Update/Comments from Kelly     Sent emails and left voicemail, waiting on return comments. Can do Wednesday anytime, but I still need the last version of the Storyboard you sent to Prasna so I have the latest edition to work with for annotations. The last time I talked with Christina, she mentioned how confusing the master board can be, so I'm thinking of producing differing versions depending on what different people need. Of course, such a production may get too overwhelming this summer, so it may be something I save for the third video instead of for the second.

FOR NEXT WEEK:

I will try to catch Mike by email Monday and perhaps even a f2f meeting at some point. I will also get over to the archives to see what we have. Might require a Wednesday trip to Commerce this week but I'm willing. I'll also continue working on tweaking this still very rough draft of the NCC storyboard and possible annotations, as well as prose and planning for SS popcorn.
